Recovery From a Fall With Our GP Service in Marbella

GP service in Marbella for recovery

A fall can be a horrible experience, especially if it's severe or if you're feeling fragile. While a minor fall is usually little cause for concern, a more serious fall can lead to a number of injuries. If you experience a severe fall you could even break a bone or worse. In most cases though, you will be able to recover from your fall, and our GP service in Marbella for recovery means you can recover in the comfort of your own home. We'll make sure you have all the assistance and support you need for a speedy recovery and will come out to you when you can't get to us.

It's possible for anyone to suffer from a fall, older people, or those with existing injuries or weaknesses are usually more vulnerable. Those with long-term health conditions are also more likely to a be at risk.

Falls are, in fact, one of the most common causes of injury, but they're often overlooked. Approximately one in three adults over the age of 65 will experience a fall at home in a single year. About half of the people of that age will experience frequent or repeated falls.

What should you do if you fall?

If you do fall at home, it's important to stay calm. If you feel as though you can, get up slowly, don't rush yourself though! Roll yourself onto your hands and knees and use a sturdy piece of furniture to pull yourself to your feet. Use both hands to support yourself if you can.

Falling can be a bit of a shock, so take some time to sit down and rest before your carry on with your day-to-day activities.

If you do hurt yourself in the fall or find that you can't get up try to get someone’s attention by calling for help or banging on the wall or floor to attract attention. If you can, try to crawl or roll to a phone and call on our GP service in Marbella. We'll send someone out to you as quickly as possible to assess your injuries and determine what needs to be done next.

You need to make sure you stay warm whilst you wait for help to arrive so try to reach something warm. A blanket or dressing gown will do nicely. Put it over your body, making sure you keep your legs and feet covered. You should also try to move position every half hour or so - although if you've called our GP service in Marbella we should be with soon enough that you won't need to move too much.

Once the team from our 24 hour GP service in Marbella arrive, they'll check your vital signs and make sure you have no serious injuries. If necessary, they'll get you to our hospital in Marbella for further checks.

Once you've been checked over and have been seen by a doctor the most important thing you need to do is rest! And remember, if you do need us, call on our GP service in Marbella and we'll come out to see you and make sure you have all the support you need.
