When patients suffer from scarlet fever they have a bright red rash that tends to cover most of their body. Scarlet fever can be accompanied by a high fever and a sore throat. Our GP home doctor for scarlet fever in Marbella warns that, if it is not treated, patients will begin to suffer from more serious conditions. These conditions can affect the heart, kidneys and many other parts of the patient’s body.

Symptoms of Scarlet Fever

Our GP home doctor for scarlet fever in Marbella says you should be looking out for the following symptoms:

A Red rash that can look a little likes sunburn but it feels a lot like sandpaper. The rash begins on your face or neck. It will then start to spread to the trunk of your body and then the arms and legs. If any pressure is applied to the skin that is now red it will become pale.
Red lines in the skin folds, the groin, armpits, knees, elbows, and neck. They tend to be a darker red than the rash.
A face that’s flushed, however, there will be a pale ring located around the patient’s mouth.
A red and lumpy tongue that has a white coating which appears when the illness begins.

The rash in addition to the redness on the face and the tongue can last 1 week. Once these symptoms have disappeared the skin where the rash was can start to peel. Other symptoms can include:

  • A headache
  • A very sore throat that’s also red. There might be white or yellow patches in the throat
